*1 Revival Animal has the best prices that I have ever found anywhere for the "KMR™ - Kitten Milk Replacer" from "Pet Ag"™ which is the best kitten formula that you can feed your new kitten(s).  Different veterinarians that we have seen through the years and lots of reading about breeding has taught us that it is much healthier to raise our kittens using additional kitten formula to supplement their moms' milk.  Many vets and other people who have seen other kittens at the same age(s) as ours, have said that our kittens are healthier, a better weight for their age, have fluffier, fuller, softer, and silkier fur than others that they have seen at the same age.  We swear by it and I feed it to the newborn kittens as soon as they act hungry - before mom has finished labor and/or cleaning herself after their birth.  They are then given a "head-start" on their nutritional needs and it helps if the kitten has trouble at first with nursing and could get pushed aside if smaller than their littermates.  In addition, they cannot see for at least a week until their eyes open, so they are going by touch and smell when it comes to finding out where and how to nurse with their mother(s).  I stay with the mom(s) and kittens for as long as it takes to see each individual kitten nursing successfully with their mom, after she tells me that it is time for me to give them back to her after I have trimmed the umilical cord, given mom the placenta, cleaned them thoroughly with a warm, clean wash cloth, weighed them to get their birth weight in addition to marking their paws with different colors to tell them apart from each other.

We feed the KMR to our kittens at least a few times a day, depending on their weight each day when we way each kitten and watch their weight gain, to give those that are not gaining as well more additional formula so that they have a much better chance of growing strong and healthy, and do not get dehydrated.  I can also tell when a kitten has a cleft palate, which happens rarely, but when it does, in addition to seeing the hole in the roof of the mouth when I inspect them at birth.  A cleft palate causes the kittens to lose suction so that they are unable to nurse properly.  Fortunately, we have only had a couple of such defects and it was in the early breeding years since 1997, when we began breeding. and we had a different male "stud"/Dad.  Now, with our Inspiration, we do not have this defect anymore, "knock on wood"!  I can tell right away now if a kitten does have that cleft palate defect by checking the roof of each kittens' mouth and when they are feeding from the syringe(s) that I use to feed the kittens and to measure how much formula that each kitten is drinking, because the milk will exit from the nose and it is very obvious that there is a problem.  All in all, we love using the KMR to supplement our kittens each day since right after birth, and it is helpful to them and to us in many ways, and we would not do it any differently again.
